Renterlyst Content Policy
Last Updated: 6/13/25
By submitting or posting any content on Renterlyst, you agree to comply with this Content Policy, as well as Renterlyst’s Terms of Service, Nondiscrimination Policy, and Community Standards. This policy applies to all forms of content you create or share on our platform, including but not limited to:
Written content: Listing titles and descriptions, user profiles, public and private messages, feedback, etc
Imagery: Photos, videos, or other media, including depictions within them (e.g., posters, artwork, signage)
Communications: Messages between users (landlords and tenant-buyers), including inquiries, applications, or negotiations
Renterlyst reserves the right to remove any content, in whole or in part, that violates this policy or any other applicable guideline. Repeated or serious violations may result in suspension or removal of the offending account.
1. Accurate and Complete Listing Content
All listings must provide truthful, up-to-date, and complete information. Misleading, deceptive, or exaggerated claims—whether about property features, condition, location, or terms of the rent-to-own agreement—are strictly prohibited. This includes:
Falsifying square footage, amenities, or images
Omitting critical information (e.g., structural concerns, non-functioning appliances)
Posting outdated photos that misrepresent current conditions
Renterlyst encourages users to include clear, accurate descriptions and high-quality images to foster transparency and avoid disputes.
2. Legal Compliance and Fair Housing
Content must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local fair housing and anti-discrimination laws. Users may not post content that:
Excludes, limits, or expresses a preference for any protected group (see our Nondiscrimination Policy)
Contains language that is harassing, threatening, or discriminatory
Suggests or implies illegal terms or practices
Renterlyst has a zero-tolerance policy for any content that violates housing laws or promotes discriminatory behavior in any form.
3. Effective Communication
Users are expected to communicate respectfully, clearly, and honestly. Content shared through messages or interactions on Renterlyst should:
Stay focused on the rent-to-own property and related discussions
Avoid aggressive, harassing, or threatening language
Refrain from spam or repetitive, irrelevant communication
Users who engage in disruptive, hostile, or abusive communication may have their messaging privileges suspended or their account removed.
4. Platform Rules and Prohibited Content
The following content is strictly not permitted on Renterlyst:
Content posted solely for advertising, external promotions, or unrelated commercial activity
Use of logos, trademarks, or company branding not relevant to the listing
Sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise harmful material
Content that impersonates another person or business
Content that violates privacy rights or includes sensitive personal data (e.g., personal contact information, addresses, identification numbers)
Content intended to bypass Renterlyst’s systems or promote off-platform transactions
All listings and communication must remain within Renterlyst’s ecosystem to ensure safety, accountability, and legal compliance.
5. State and Local Law Compliance
It is the user’s responsibility to ensure that all content—especially listing details—complies with applicable laws and regulations in the property's jurisdiction. This includes:
Disclosure of any local requirements (e.g., lease-purchase laws, inspection rules, zoning restrictions)
Transparency regarding legal occupancy limits, rent credits, or option fees
Prohibitions on language or practices that would violate tenant rights in a given area
If local law conflicts with this policy in a way that grants broader protections, local law takes precedence.
Violations and Reporting
If you come across content that violates this policy, please report it directly through the platform or by contacting Renterlyst support. All reports are taken seriously and reviewed promptly. Depending on the severity, Renterlyst may take any of the following actions:
Remove or modify the offending content
Issue a warning to the account owner
Suspend or permanently remove the user’s account
